What is an SWOT analysis.

If you already know, then please correct me if I am wrong about something! If you don’t know, then please read this to understand, what it is that I offer you for free when contacting me about a analysis of your business, or even a possible partnership.

S W O T

Strength – Weakness – Oppourtunity – Threats

Internal

External

When analysisng, the first thing to look at, is your strengt and weakness within your own business

Now that you have looked internally, you then look outward and try to see the oppourtunities and threats

Internal

When analysisng, the first thing to look at, is your strengt and weakness within your own business

Strength. To find out what strength your business have, it could even take a questionnaire for your customers, for you to find out if you are unsure, or just want confirmation on what you already think. With a questionnaire, you might even get new information to your advantage.

A couple of examples could be costumer service, prices, location or your products and etcetera.

Weakness. Again a questionnaire once a while, if possible, is always a good thing to do, but of course it is not necessarily to find out strength or/and weakness of your business! You might already know them or have a good idea of what they are.

If so, can you then do something about it, for it to change, or at least still improve your business in those parts that works out already.

External

Now that you have looked internally, you then look outward and try to see the oppourtunities and threats

Oppourtunities. Looking externally just means, that you look out on what might be to your advantage, that you not only can turn into an strength, but also into more profit, by using that oppourtunity strategically.

This could simply be by advertisment for a new target group, and/or also email marketing for new customers, from your new target group.

It might be expanding in more than one sense. For example an store more, even in a new country, or adding new products, maybe even just investing in more and/or new equitment or education for your self or staff.

Threats. I think the word in itself explains a lot already, but to clarify, even you might already find it obvious. This could be competition, even more so if your competition is actively trying to outperfom you, or steal your customers.

But it is not only competition that is a threat, because more or less, every business out there has competition.

It could actually even be something internally with your business that is working against you, which is why, it can’t hurt to do this kind of analysis and update it once a while.

An improvement internally, can change the outcome of the external, and any sudden changes in the external, can quickly affect your business internal.

A more futher explanation for the reason of internal and external, is that the internally part is what you can affect or improve directly by your own actions.

While the external part, is useally things that you can’t always affect or change directly because it’s useally things that occurs outside of your own business.
It could even be the weather as in a sudden change that could mean you have to close down for a day or more, or even relocate.

It is up to you to try and navigate through it to your best abillities, obviously, and this tool is to help you some of the way.

So, what it is that I will do, is to use this tool to see if I can see something that you haven’t noticed, because sometimes we need an objective perspective on things.

There is a saying in danish, that I can’t see the forest from all the trees, which just means that once in a while, we need to step back a bit, or stop and actually get an overview of things to realise what it is, we need to address, or see, in order to address it, or in a nother case, appreciate it.

Since there is two parts to this analysing, I will do as much independently as possible, and then of course involve you as much as possible or the other way around.
The goal is surely to get some results that you can use for something, if not, then at least I will hopefully be able to use it for your advantage in a strategically sense.
